Millions of people do not go to the dentist because of their dental fears. Some people have been traumatized by a previous experience, find it hard to sit still, or are just afraid. If undergoing dental care gives you anxiety, sedation dentistry may be an appropriate option for you.
What is sedation dentistry?
Sedation dentistry is the use of sedative medication to help a patient relax during a dental procedure. Sedation helps dental professionals provide more treatment during your dental appointment.
How are the sedatives administered during sedation dentistry?
Oral sedation (using pills) and Nitrous sedation (using gas) are available to patients that are candidates in our Reading, Limerick, and West Chester offices.
If you would like to learn more about any of these forms of sedation, please call us to make an appointment for the consult so we can review your medical history and our associated fees. These services may not be available in all offices.
How will I feel after sedation dentistry?
After sedation dentistry, you will feel tired and ready to sleep. You will probably not remember your appointment or the dental work that was done. You must bring someone to drive you home after receiving sedation.
What offices offer sedation dentistry?
Oral sedation and Nitrous sedation can be done in our Reading, Limerick, and West Chester offices. Neither Nitrous nor oral sedation are available in our Easton and Lansdale locations.
